The
other major league baseball team in Missouri
plays their games at Kauffman Stadium,
Kansas City, Missouri, just across the
state line from Kansas City, Kansas. Although
their baseball field sometimes teems with
the activity of a wheat field, the Kansas
City Royals have a lot of team spirit
and tradition, and a lot to be proud of.
The 2007 Kansas City Royals will field
a team that includes Shane Costa, Mark
Teahen, Todd Wellemeyer, and newly acquired
pitcher Gil Meche.
Unfortunately for general manager Dayton
Moore, and the Kansas City Royals, the
MLB rulebook prohibits broadcasters from
playing, and Ryan Lefebvre will continue
to be confined to the booth, behind a
microphone and under a pair of headphones.

The Kauffman Stadium backstop will be
composed of John Buck and Jason LaRue.
Buck, the starting catcher responded to
the news of the LaRue acquisition like
a true baseball hero – he knows
the competition will make him stronger,
saying, “healthy competition is
never bad for a club.”
That’s the kind of professionalism
with which Kansas City Royals baseball
has always been imbued. That’s the
kind of attitude that makes the Kansas
City Royals and the fans at Kauffman Stadium,
proud to be a part of Major League Baseball,
and proud to play in the heartland of
America. Buy
